1. White sands Hotel
This Kenya coast hotel is a multi- award- winning and invariably busy, and could be justified in dubbing itself the best Kenya resort hotel on the coast, offering consistently good service, thoughtful design, full luxury facilities and high standards through out. Fancy wood reliefs, hand painted panels and marble add to the airy sophistication.
There are an amazing five pools and the grounds front directly onto the sand. This Kenya Beach hotel rates are US$90/140 for s/d in low season and US$ 140/180 in high season.
2. Severin Sea Lodge
This place is so classy it has a Swiss consulate in it-surely high praise. Appealing round cottages running down to the beach and there are some nice bars and restaurants, including a funky restaurant in a converted dhow. The comfort-class doubles are the nicest rooms, with more elaborate dcor and more expensive rates. This Kenya Beach hotel rates are US$54/108 for s/d in low season and US$ 165/206 in high season.
3. Travellers Beach Hotel
A modern, quiet stylish place fronted by a huge triangular makuti building. Attractive channels link the pools. Not all rooms have sea views. This Kenya beach lodge rental rates are Kshs 5500/7300 for s/d in low season and Kshs7300/9700 in high season.
4. Plaza Beach Hotel
Looking a little cramped on the plot next to Severin and Neptune, the plazas grounds are a little dry but the Moorish design and the decent rooms work just fine. With ships wheels as a headboards, its certainly not a problem drifting off. This Kenya coast hotel rates are US$ 60/110 for s/d in low season and US$ 85/140 in high season.
5. Neptune Beach resort
An endearing eyesore, the haphazard colour scheme and panda shaped pool do at least help Neptune stand out from the competition. High season rates are all inclusive. This Kenya Beach accommodation hotel rates are Kshs 2700/4400/6600 for s/d/tr in low season and Kshs 4300/7000/10500 in high season.
6. Mombasa Serena Beach Hotel
Serenas only Kenyan beach resort is so extensive that its styled on a traditional Swahili village-the pathways along the tree filled complex even has street names. The split-level rooms are equally impressive, and the design lends an incongruous intimacy. The Mombasa Serena beach hotel prices are US$95/190 for s/d in low season and US$ 200/260 in high season.
7. Petuscha Garden Lodge
A small private complex marketed mainly at Germans. Theres a range of different rooms and rates are pretty negotiable out of season.
The up market Coral beach, Shanzu Beach, Palm Beach, Paradise Beach, Dolphin and Flamingo Beach hotels are all owned by the African Safari Club.
Most visitors eat at the hotel where they are staying, but there are several restaurants in the Shanzu Shopping centre offering almost identical menus of pizzas and other European favourites for between Kshs 350 and Kshs 500.
8. Royal Reserve Safari & Beach Club
Possibly the best value self-catering on the coast-the smart modern apartments here have all-new fittings, including microwave and utensils complemented by a full range of facilities and activities. If you need provisions, theres a small shop on site and a weekly shuttle bus to the supermarket. Its heavily marketed for timeshares, so book early in high season. Prices of the Mombasa beach hotel are US$66-100
9. Sunn Sand Beach Resort
Despite its 900-head capacity theres a really nice feel to the pastel-orange SunnSand, and its known as one of the best hotels on the north coast for Kids. The mock-mud Moorish buildings are intelligently laid out so it doesnt feel crowded. Children are charged 50% of the adult rate.
The company also contributes a lot to the local community, providing drinking water, a health centre and a school. Prices at the Kenya coast hotel are US$45/90 for s/d in low season and US$ 70/100 in high season.
10. Le Soleil Beach Club
This is a big beach resort with modernist white blocks and the usual array of facilities. Sadly these prices make it the most expensive hotel on the strip, which is hardly justified. Prices at the Kenya coast club are US$72/120/168 for s/d/tr in low season and US$ 84/140/196 in high season.
