Silver Beach Hotel:
There are 100 twin-bedded rooms facing towards the sea. Forty eight of these actually overlook the beach. The main hotel restaurant is indoor-outdoor style and there is also a pool side area for snacks and lunch. There is a lounge bar and a patio bar and two swimming pools. The large pool is made available for games while the smaller pool is closer to the ocean.
Silver Star Beach Hotel
There 123 twin bedded sea-facing rooms, each with a balcony or terrace. Rooms are ensuite with showers and have individual air conditioning units.
There is a main restaurant serving buffet-style breakfasts and dinners, and a deck restaurant for snacks and lunches. There are three bars. A large free-form swimming pool with a patio terrace and sun beds overlooks the ocean.
Mombasa Beach Hotel-Kenya
This is a larger hotel with five-story accommodation blocks facing the sea. It is built on an attractive rocky point with old trees. Many stairs lead to the beach. There are three conference centers, a shopping arcade, five restaurants, and a water park with slide. The pool is surrounded by a concrete terrace with plastic lounge chairs. There are many recreational choices. The rooms are bright and airy, and many have good sea views.
Reef Hotel Mombasa
The reef hotel is a large Kenya resort hotel which can accommodate about 350 guests. There is no sense of the ocean from the main rooms or pool. The layout is rather confusing with many passages and paths before you reach the beach. There are rows of rooms and lots of concrete.
The hotel offers a plethora of facilities and activities: bingo, videos, conference facilities, hair salon, fitness center, tennis, several restaurants, organised pool activities, water sports. The rooms have air-conditioning and fridges. A range of room types are available, including a five bedroom villa with private pool.
The reef hotel is favoured by mostly local conference groups since it has excellent conferencing facilities and extra activities and is also with easy reach. The huge Mombasa Kenya beach hotel complex has for many years been the Kenyan coast Landmark.
Going by the range of extra activities offered here including a fully stocked shopping arcade, this would be ideal for a family group as there is enough to keep you busy for more than a week. It is however touristy and may be alittle off putting for those looking for exclusivity away from the tourist mobs.
